This delightful old English nursery rhyme was the inspiration for this painting. And yes, there are 4 and 20 blackbirds around the edges of the tray. Done in a simple stroke style, they are fun to do. The faces are what I call character faces, so no stress here, because you can experiment with the look you want each one to have.

#2 liner – Fine details, lettering,stripes.
¼” Possibilities brush – Blended highlights, checks, etc.
¾” -1” old brush – Applying Retarder Medium.
3/8” oval glaze, Possibilities, or filbert – applying glazing color.
¾” – 1” Possibilities or mop – Blending out glazes.
