It is always fun to paint a Santa face. When thinking about inspiration for this interpretation, Jo Sonja decided to begin with eyes and highlights that reflect the traditions of icon painting. The soft curly moustache and beard were inspired by an older gentleman whom she had spoken to the week before this painting was done.
