This class is a study in Telemark featuring traditional and contemporary design, colors and techniques. The presentation includes stroke people, basic scrolls, telemark floral bouquets and landscapes.
There are three bundle options for the class shown. The wood piece is inspired by the traditional Melkar (Norwegian Flour Box). It is beautifully crafted from solid Alder and measures 12 ½” tall x 12 x 7 ½” Wide and 7 ½” Deep.
The first melkar, the Blackberry one, was started many years ago and just recently finished. The Stillwater piece, with scenes, was painted for one of our books, published much later, but pictures were never taken of all surfaces. Therefore, we decided to show and discuss both pieces together in this lesson.
After a brief introduction, the Blackberry melkar is taught, then there is a brief introduction to the more contemporary Stillwater melkar and the unusual color scheme before we teach the painting techniques of it.
An unusual approach to our regular lessons, yes, but we hope that you'll enjoy.
