This bowl has been wonderfully reproduced with the inspiration from an antique Norwegian dragon bowl. The dragon measures 16 1/4" long x 5 1/4" wide and 6 1/2" tall at the tip of the head. It is slightly larger than the carved Setesdal Hen that we have done and we've included a photo of them both together for reference.
To the Vikings, the dragon was a symbol of protection. So, you'll find dragon heads from the prow of their ships to the peaks of their old stave church roofs. How fortunate
we are to have this piece to decorate. Since Setesdal kept the old tradition longer than any other area, I decided to use influences from their area to paint this piece. It will become the holiday centerpiece for our dining room table.
Design not included but available.
