The inspiration for this piece is an old painted trunk in the Drammens Museum in Drammen, Norway. In his book "Rosemaling in Hallingdal", Nils Ellingsgard has a very informational article introducing us to pictorial images in Rosemaling.  The design includes a golden bear, grapes, and creatures from the sea along with other traditional images.
