Searching for a new approach to creating stylized designs for the 21st century. I began by remembering our folk art studies over the past 60 years. From Narrow Boat painting (England) to Rogaland Rosemaling (Norway), American country tin painting to old Hindeloopen decorating (Dutch), etc.
Then, turning my thoughts to subject matter I decided to find a simple stylized tulip, blossoms, rose and bird. Now combine them. Add a simple stroke leaf. Paint them on some favorite wood pieces to see what could happen... and proceeded to lose myself in hours of fun.
