Inspiration for this design and style comes from a beautiful antique tray. Studying the English garden florals with the Australian sturt desert pea on the far right side - the probable history began to unfold.
Here then is a study of the beautiful antique tray, on both an alder box and then adapted to an alder tilt top table with additional gold Chinoiserie elements added to complement the design. The birds have a little more anatomically correct head shapes but still have a bird of paradise style tail, and the sturts desert pea is still on the right side. The techniques used are Chippendale style, the mother of pearl is a faux finish technique.
The bombay style desk box is made from solid alder and measures approximately 15" long x 13" wide and stands 4.5" tall.
The online class includes 9 separate lessons for a total of 7 hours of instruction. Design packet includes both designs, full color photos and instructions.
