We have repurposed one of Jo Sonja's most popular Christmas plates into a collection of 7 ornaments. This collection contains all 6 herald angels with their different musical instruments and the center Madonna and Christ Child motif.
The technique on the Madonna is a softer religious painting look with just a hint of an icon-like style. The angels are a pure folk art. The Christ Child holds a lamb and a heart, as symbols of His life and purpose. I often think of that magical night of His birth and know that He must have heard the music of the angels many times after that! May you too enjoy their wondrous melodies as you enjoy this piece. Another wonderful outlet for our creative journey, each ornament is done out of mdf and laser cut with intricate detail. The patterns are lightly etched on the surface for ease of painting. If you prefer to not use the etching, it can be painted over with Gesso or Texture paste and then the pattern can be applied - as you prefer.
The design originally appears in our packet JP3338 and, before that, it appeared in The Artist's Journal #27. If you have either of those items already then you have the instructions for painting this design and can just purchase the blanks.
Unpainted ornament:
Ornaments have a maximum height of about 7 inches and a maximum width of about 7 inches. The Mother and Child ornament has a diameter of 5 inches.
