This series of videos features four Rosemaling styles each done on a different hand carved ale bowl.  Traditionally the table was set for a special meal. In the center of the table would be a very large wooden bowl filled with ale. The ale bowl was a prominent object in many rural Norwegian homes and farmhouses..  Some were large enough to hold several liters of ale. These larger ale bowls frequently held smaller ale bowls which would float in the beer and could be used to dip the beer from the larger vessel.   Using the bird shape, especially a goose one, for a container or scoops is an ale tradition.

These are smaller Bantam ale bowls – See the sizes on the photo descriptions for each piece.  Each is a beautifully hand carved replica of an actual antique bowl.   They are perfect as a gift or legacy pieces for the home.
